Any of several species of land-tortoise of the genus Homopus of the Testudinidae, especially the small land-tortoise Homopus areolatus, peculiar to the Western Cape, and the pale olive-brown-coloured tortoise H. femoralis. Also attributive. See also padlopertjie sense 2.
